It was a dream come true for me when I joined Microsoft but 1 year 5 months later, I left Microsoft.

BUT WHY LEAVE SUCH A GLOBAL STAGE?

  1. It’s a commitment to inspire the coming generation: I am the first University graduate in my clan and this means a lot to me. I am pushing the boundaries for them of what’s possible. Sending them a message of hope. Do not let your background limit you.
  2. It was the right time: After several years of working in the corporate system, I have a better understanding of my gap and what’s required to fill it. I have also tried going for my Masters since 2015. All efforts to secure a scholarship failed.
  3. It’s another way for me to take a career break: Time to refill myself and see a new world beyond the four walls of Nigeria.
  4. Bigger Platform for Impact: Change of environment. Despite being an avid reader and futurist, nothing can be compared to the changes you experience physically interacting with the environment.
  5. Mid-Career Crisis: if there’s anything like that. I have worked in several Data domain capacities for the past 5 years. As a data analyst, data scientist, data management officer, power platform developer, etc I need the time to reflect on what the next 5 years hold for me.

This was the most difficult decision I have ever made in my adulthood but I am glad I did.
